Last Wednesday, I stayed home from work because I was feeling nauseous, and made several bathroom runs, and prayed to the porcelain god right after I called my boss to say that maybe I should stay home.
Thursday, I was feeling better, and I decided to nap for a bit before work, since I was just worn out. I dreamed that I was having searing, horrible pain on the right side of my lower back, and that it was traveling. I woke up, and holy hell, it was no dream. So, I told Mr. K that I'd started having this pain. Bless his heart, having had a kidney stone a week and a half prior, he said, "I think you have a kidney stone, and we should go to Multicare RIGHT NOW."
Me being me, I just looked at him like he was high, and said, "Nope. I gotta go to work." And actually got ready to go, and went to work. No lie.
So, I was in utter, complete, and total misery while I was working. I am a pharmacy delivery driver, and I had to fight the urge to draw my right knee up to my chest ALL afternoon. Fortunately, it was an early day, and when I was done, I told my boss that I probably should go home, since I had been feeling like I was having back labor all afternoon, but only on one side.
I called Mr. K and told him yeah, I'll agree to go to Multicare. So, he puts me in the car, and drives off. The pain was just bad. It really was like back labor, as in, it came in waves, like contractions, and hurt like a son of a bitch. They checked me in, and had me wait, and in between taking my vitals and the doctor seeing me, I had the trash can between my knees, because I was pretty sure I was going to throw up.
Doctor palpates my belly and back, and got really concerned really quickly because I was tender in two places on my belly. She immediately ordered a shot of Phenergan and Stadol, bloodwork to check my white blood cell count, and x-rays to determine if there was something visible by x-ray. The nurse comes back in, gives me that shot straight in my butt cheek, and it burned like crazy, but once that Stadol kicked in, I felt NOTHING, and didn't care anymore.
Doctor ruled out appendicitis, and told me that if I started running a fever and hurting worse, to get my ass to the hospital pronto. As far as she could tell, I had a kidney stone. So, she prescribed Lortabs, Flomax, prescription ibuprofen, and Phenergan.
That had to be the worst possible experience of my life. My WHOLE life. I've had a baby, and I've had a kidney stone (passed that little bastard at 3AM Friday morning....looked like a piece of short grain rice size-wise, and color-wise looked like a Grape-Nut). I'd much rather be in labor. Labor didn't hurt as much.
Now we'll see if my cow-irker, who accused me of lying about a traffic accident, thinks I'm lying about having a goddamned kidney stone. Dude, Mr. K called my BOSS, on Thursday evening, from the pharmacy we went to (the one I work for was closed by then), to let him know what was going on, and my boss told Mr. K to let me know he'd get me covered for Friday, and rest up and take it easy. I will unload on her if she pulls that shit tomorrow, I swear to Dog.
