Hello! I have never posted or been a part of something like this but here it goes... I am 46 years old. Current Diagnosis is "failed back syndrome" don't you just love it when the doctor calls you a failure? - I have had three back surgeries over the last 19 years and NUMEROUS other procedures to try to control the pain. I am currently on MS Contin and Vicoden for break through pain....they aren't working great but they do take the edge off a bit... If I do anything more than sit around the house or sleep they are great. As soon as I try cleaning or try driving my 13 year old around town or doing anything more...pain meds fail (just like my back diagnosis) I have a lot of nerve pain generating from my L2-S1 nerve roots...Minimul numbness in my left foot (permanant) and right sided hip and leg pain... Doctor thinks my next step is implanting a neurostimulator....I am just not sure...

That sucks. I haven't heard of a neurostimulator before, so no advice there. Just gentle hugs of welcome.

Well, After doing as much research as I can and talking to two different doctors, I have decided to have the trial stimulator inserted next Friday... The leads are put in through a large needle and attached to a battery taped on your back. I have it on for 3-5 days and see how it feels. If I get enough pain reduction they will implant the permanant one under the skin....
