My youngest child is a senior in high school. This year, the orchestra is taking a trip to New York City. (she plays violin, has since she was 8 or 9 years old). We live on a fixed income because of the spouse's disability. So, I decided to put our talents to work for us to raise money for our daughter, Christine (I call her "Ceej" online) to go to NYC with the high school orchestra. The spouse only has the use of one hand, because of the stroke. But he makes amazing things out of wood. He made birdhouses for me to sell for the kid's travel fund. And me... well, obviously I do photography. At the suggestion of April Winchell (most recently of Regretsy fame), i started an etsy shop to feature birdhouses made by the disabled guy and my photography. 100% of what we sell goes into a special account for Ceej's trip. The Disabled Guy Family's etsy shop (the profile tells the whole story)For more about the Disabled Guy himself, I have a blog called "Conversations with the Disabled Guy

Well, we can't ship a swing. But if someone lives between where we are and someone we visit (which is usually North Carolina) or near there, arrangements could be made. But, the birdhouses on the etsy shop ship anywhere in the US. The photos ship anywhere.

I forgot to come in here and update this- we made our goal. Through some sales in the shop and some enormous generosity from my online friends- most of whom I've never met in person. The shop is still open though, and any monies we earn between now and the trip (mid-March) will go to the general orchestra fund to help the teacher with any expenses.
