Sometimes the little things make it all worthwhile. What little things brightened your day?
For me it was a conversation in which I said 'Close your eyes and think of England'. Which, of course, was heard as 'Close your eyes and think of penguins'. Which has warped the former phrase for me forever. In a good way.

My guy and I had a whole discussion about me sewing him pirate pants for his birthday. We spent the entire 8 hours I was at work emailing back and forth about it.
It made me smile, at least.

But did he send you pictures and measurements??? I close my eyes and think of penguins often.....don't ask why.

Part of the discussions was how often I would have to take those measurements, due to distractions.
It was fun.

Last night and into today- my friends rallying around me on a random Facebook post where three people completely misunderstood and posted knee-jerk reactions to what I said about patriotism.
Someone even trotted out the little gem of how if I didn't support the troops, I was free to go into battle instead of them. (which made me laugh near-asthma inducing because if she had read the entire original post, it would have made sense to her).

Patty, your post and the following thread thereafter amused me. People are just ridiculous.

About three years ago, I joined a tattoo-themed message board (I have eight tattoos and I appreciate the work and art behind tattooing).
Anyway, also a member of this board was a lovely young man who happened to be an aspiring writer. His first novel was published and I bought it, simply because I thought it'd be cool to have something from someone I "knew". I wasn't really a fan of his genre (horror/sci-fi), but I like Stephen King and this new novel was a zombie apocalypse thing.
Ten seconds into reading the book, I knew it wasn't your typical novel. I love that book. Every review I've written for it (on Amazon and other sites) start out with: "I recommend this book to horror and non-horror fans alike."
The book was called Drop Dead Gorgeous and the writer's name is Wayne Simmons. I tell everyone about him and his work. I brag on him as if he were one of my kids- its insane. His second novel came out (a wonderfully-written FLU) and I did the same all over (though its a bit more gory, if you're a non-horror fan, start with DDG and move on to "FLU").
I had to wait a month for Amazon in the US to sell FLU and in the meantime, Wayne emailed me one of the final drafts in a pdf so I wouldn't have to wait (I have since learned that Amazon UK ships to the US). When I got the copy of FLU in the mail, I read it again. And I found on the last page, in the acknowledgements... he had ME listed! I was so shocked and happy that I cried. Yes... I cried!
I was delightfully informed via email that he'd gotten the rights back to DDG and was doing a rewrite with the publisher of FLU. And, would I be interested in helping him and his "ghoulfriend" proofread the final draft?
Not just yes, but hell yes!
About a week ago, I got an email with the pdf of the new version of DDG attached. OH. DEAR. JEBUS!
Its so well-written that I can't tell where he added new stuff to the old.
ANYWAY... my point... I sent off the email with my list of typos that I found. This is the email I got back today and it not only made my day brighter, I'm grinning like an idiot.
You can't see it, but I'm doing a wicked, 80s-style air guitar right now.

Remembering how wicked cool I looked at my 80s themed birthday party took my mind off of my swollen ear a couple of times. The swollen ear might be a result of my earring posts interlocking several times throughout the night, but according to my friend D he almost didn't recognize me with my "Camaro hair, that's what we called it back then." D is the most 80s dude I know, he hasn't exactly changed in 20 years, according to those that know him. Getting that compliment brightened my day...although I am still giggling over the term "Camaro hair."

My cat really cheered me up all week. The instructor in the 3 week class i get paid to take before the internship physically starts enrages me to the point i think about ways to get thinking about crowbars and bricks...ugh, but at the end of the day, after that five hours and the two hour train ride home, my cat Baby, is there to brush up beside me and get petted, which makes everything ok again.

Coming home to a clean house. That is something that makes me ecstatic. It was almost done to my "specifications" when I came home from work today. They forgot to vacuum. But that's now been done, and I'm satiated for now. If only I could keep it as clean all the time... but alas, with 8-9 people in the house, that really is asking a lot. lol.

Yesterday, we watched the film version of La Traviata in my Music class. It was my first opera, and while I liked it, it was also very long and draining. Honestly, by the last half hour I wanted to scream at the screen 'Stop singing about it and just die already!'
So, the movie finally ends with a dramatic and overpowering death scene. The whole room is silent, not really sure what to say. Finally, one guy a couple of rows back calls out 'So, she died?'
Instant day brightener.

I got to see some friends I haven't seen for months. I had to drive (ow) to get there and back, but seeing them made it worth it.
Also, I had some yarn for a scarf that I didn't buy enough of. Even though it's been a few months since the purchase, I was able to match the dye lot!

Today, I saw someone for the first time in twenty-six years. Every so often, I'd do a Google search or even a "reunion*dot*com" search (its now "mylife*dot*com") just to see. Last week, he saw an ad for the site and decided to sign up and see what it was all about. "Someone has searched for you!" He sent me a message on that site, but you can't get your messages unless you pay loads of money. So I changed my profile to point out my Yahoo screen name and that I get email at that... Last Sunday he sent an email. We started texting and one day last week I suggested we call- phones, great inventions! Today he drove five hours from a town just on the Wisconsin side of Minneapolis. I had an awesome day!
