EpiPen

I may have to start carrying one soon. I had a mild reaction to a bee sting, well, mild as in I'm not dead. I think I'm more scared of having to jab myself with the epipen than I am of the allergic reaction. Considering my past with sharp objects, it seems kind of backwards.
I have to go to the doctor this week sometime and I'm scared. I don't want to have to have one, but are there any side effects that I need to know about if I do have to have one?

If you can jam something against your leg then you'll be fine. Epipens are basically epinephrine.
You'll be fine, your fear of the allergic reaction (which could be anything) is likely going to override your fear of sharp objects. You don't SEE the needle.
My pharmacist loves to tell the story of how at least 2-3 times a year he demonstrates on how to use them and accidentally doses himself. Apparently this happens often enough that the epipen company gives "demonstration" pens to pharmacists that only contain water.
The side effects you may experience are the typical ones that come with any stimulant. Heart racing, feeling like you just ran a race, etc. BUT you may not feel much and will have a minimal reaction to the bee sting.
HUGS and try not to get yourself all worked up and freaked out about it before if even happens.
