so it's been a while since I've been on here..so I'll give a little of backstory here. I was diagnosed with fibro back in the early part of this year. My doctor tried a few different combinations of meds, some of them seemed to help a little, some of them didn't. After about 6 months or so, he basically looked at me and said he couldn't do anything else for me because I was going to a clinic for people who don't make much money. They weren't really allowed to give out a lot of pain meds and stuff, and the ones that he had me on (ultram) wasn't really helping a whole lot. I ended up getting a job (finally) but with working I was in A LOT of pain. So I ended up switching doctors. I am now going to my moms doctor (I have to pa 65 dollars a visit--which is SUPER pricey, even with me having a job now). But he put me on lyrica and vicodin, which seems to be doing BETTER for me, but still not where I'd like to be.
Fast forward to last month. On November 20th I was in a really bad car accident with my boyfriend. We totaled the car, and I got injured. I've been off work for almost a month (I got back this Sunday). A lot of my injuries have healed now. I do have some issues with my left breast because of the seatbelt. It actually ripped some of my breast tissue and there's a perfect indent in my left breast where the seatbelt was, and it's something that isn't going to get any better (without plastic surgery). But because it's a CAR accident, I can't find any plastic surgeon in the area that will see me, because they won't deal with car insurance comapanies, and I have no personal health insurance to help pay for it. I also found a lump in my breast after the accident, they're saying its non cancerous right now, but because there was so much trauma to the breast tissue, it could cause me problems down the road. And my biological mother (I'm adopted but know who my biological mother is) she is fighting breast cancer right now..so my chances are already significantly higher.
My big issue right now is, my doctor originally wanted me to eventually try to file for disability. But we knew it would be a tough fight for me beacause I'm only 27. Now I have to fight with my boyfriends insurance company for pain and suffering/lost wages..things like that. But my Dr. warned me, because I have a preexisting condition (the fibro) they're gonna be hard on me..because it will be more difficult to tell why I'm in pain (and on vicodin)..if its because of the accident, or because of the original fibro pain. So now he's wanting to cut back my pain medicine to prove that at least some of the pain I'm having IS (and was) from the accident.
It's frustrating, because I'm going to be going back to work..which is when I need more of the pain meds..but in order to fight with the insurance company..I have to lessen the amount of pain meds I'm on.
Basically what he's saying is..as long as I'm being treated for the accident, he can't be treating me for a pre existing problem too, because it will look bad for my report for the accident claim.
I'm so frustrated at the moment..
I'm not sure how the accident will help my chances of getting disability in the future, but at the moment its like torture, because I have to back off on my treatment of the fibro in order to prove my claim for the accident.
So anyway, I just wanted to vent about that and see if anyone had any ideas on my situation.
Most of my injuries from the car accident are on my left side..(we were hit from the left). I jammed up my shoulder and my left knee. And for about 3 weeks my left breast was completely black from all kinds of blood. I was bleeding in the tissues. My nipple is still discolored because all the blood pooled at the lowest point (I have big breasts so they kinda sag..suck). My shoulder and knee feel A LOT better, but still have some pain.
Anyway..I think I'm just rambling..just wanted to get that all out..and get any ideas or suggestions..or whatever.
