Welcome. Are they offering ANY kind of help, even just throwing prescriptions at you?

Not yet...take lots of Tylenol, Ibuprofen and my husband's muscle relaxers...have been kind of reluctant to bring it up...my husband is disabled and has been on pain meds for several years...afraid drs will think I'm just drug shopping...don't think I can hold out much longer though....

Mine put me on muscle relaxers which helped with my sleeping. And more sleep makes me feel better for longer stretches of time.
As soon as I got the official diagnosis, that took away any suspicions that I was drug shopping.

Hey Deanie! My Rheum. prescribed Xanax for me to help me sleep (I also have Fibro amongst other health issues). It's helping.. and I also take my muscle relaxer at night, which also helps. Pahz will call me the "Unicorn", but since I was put on Xanax to help me sleep I tend to get 8 hours. It's something to think about. And it's not shopping if you talk to your doctor and explain you're situation and that you've been talking to others who have Fibro and have shared their problems and solutions with you and offered their help.

Oh, and I'm prescribed Savella for the Fibro, mainly.

I think doctors tend to assume you're drug seeking when you walk in asking for stuff like Percocet right off the bat. If you're not asking by name for stuff like Soma or Xanax or Ambien or generally anything that can be abused, you're not likely to get labeled a drug-seeker by a doctor.
Just be very specific about your symptoms - if you're having trouble falling asleep, if it's trouble staying asleep, or if you're sleeping, but it doesn't feel as though you've slept at all, these are the things you want to be clear about, because they're different problems that can be treated in different ways.
I'm sorry you're not sleeping well. It sucks, I totally identify. Let's go punch somebody who deserves it.

OOOOooooh! I have someone you can punch. Right in the mouth! My next door neighbor who doesn't have a volume knob for her voice. She yells everything and was outside this morning at 4 am "talking" to her friend then had to push said friends car out of our driveway because of the ice that was still there. She woke me 15 minutes before my alarm went off to get me up for work. Stupid cow. I really can't stand her and her broken volume knob!

I would be thrilled to punch your loud neighbor, Winter. Thrilled.
If I ruled the world, people who didn't know how to behave properly would be fitted with shock collars, and they'd get a good zap every time they did something socially uncool.

and i can think of a lot more interesting ways to punish the loud folks that bother you guys' sleep. i have problems sleeping as well, not because of pain but because i think too much, worry too much, and i guess there is some emotional pain dashed in there for flavor. just hold on deanieg, for giving up isn't a opition and welcome indeed.
